This post was put together to show you just how easy and varying it can be to put an extra $10 and often much more in your pocket on short notice.

Extra cash is always handy when it’s needed the most. Whether you’re looking to save up for something big like a vacation or just want some emergency spending money, these tips will help you come away with $10—or more!—without much effort.

Of course, there aren’t any quick fixes that’ll magically give you loads of money overnight. If you really want to get ahead financially, you should take steps toward financial independence now while you still have time to do so. But if you’re not ready yet, here are several ideas to earn a few bucks without too much work.

1. Sell Your Junk

Selling off unwanted items has become increasingly popular over recent years thanks to sites like eBay. It might be tempting to put everything you own up for sale right now when money is tight but selling everything isn’t a good idea.

When selling your used things you will only get a small fraction of what you paid for them, so be sure that you won’t actually need the items before selling them.

If you don’t feel comfortable selling online, check out local classified ads or yard sales throughout the spring and summer months. The best part about both options is they require little commitment since you simply post what you’d like to sell then wait for potential buyers to start bidding.

Remember, though, that you shouldn’t expect great returns unless the item is brand new or very rare. And even then, you may only see a couple hundred bucks total.

2. Hold A Community Garage Sale Or Yard Sale

There are plenty of people who enjoy holding regular garage sales where folks drive by and pick through piles of junk. However, if you live near others, why not host a larger event where everyone gets together once a month?

Just set up tables outside, roll up the red carpet, and invite neighbors into your home for free coffee and snacks. Then offer them a chance to browse your wares and hopefully buy something.

You can also sell snacks, baked goods, or drinks to help raise a bit of extra money as well.

Yard sale events are similar except instead of using tables, use blankets and lawn chairs to create a small tent outside.

3. Clean Out Your Closets, Garage, Basement, Etc.

Have you been meaning to clean out your closet for ages but never got around to it? Or maybe you’ve been putting off cleaning your garage because you think you can find better uses for its contents elsewhere? Well, we suggest doing neither. Instead, spend Saturday mornings decluttering your spaces and getting rid of things you haven’t used in years.

Afterward, donate anything still useful (clothes, furniture, appliances, books, toys, tools, etc.) to charity or friends.

The same goes for basements and garages. If you’ve been storing stuff down there for no apparent reason, let go of the clutter and open space up. Not sure what to do with old cars? Have fun learning how to restore classic rides such as hot rods.

4. Use Craigslist

Craigslist is a huge website with millions upon millions of users worldwide. So chances are pretty high that you know someone who lives nearby.

On Craisglist you could advertise services that you want to do (to make that $10) or find people who need something done. You can also find tons of free stuff that people are giving away on there. While it might be junk, decent items are given away for free all of the time that you can easily clean up and then sell yourself to try and make some money.

This approach is called flipping and can be done not only on Craigslist but also Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp and even on places like eBay and Amazon.

5. Deliver Anything

Are you well versed in driving and good at organizing? Then you probably already know how to deliver groceries, flowers, packages, newspapers, etc. If not, hit up Craigslist’s Personals section and request delivery jobs from locals willing to hire you. Consider asking for references first so you can call previous clients to verify quality service.

Also, remember to charge enough for your efforts so you actually leave with profit rather than going broke. Generally speaking, rates range anywhere between $25-$75 per hour depending on location and type of job. Of course, you can adjust prices according to demand.

Apps like Uber Eats, Instacart, Grubhub, Doordash, and others will allow you to make $10 (or more) with just a delivery or two.

6. Offer Services (I.E., Babysit, Tutor, Walk Dog, Pet Sit, Mow Grass, Laundry, Etc.)

Do you have a talent, hobby, skill, knowledge, or experience that others could benefit from? Are you willing to teach them? Maybe you’re skilled in knitting, painting, carpentry, music, dance, photography, landscaping, gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, woodworking, computer programming, graphic design, interior decorating, massage therapy, yoga, meditation, etc.?

By offering your expertise for a fee you can easily make $10 in no time.

Even if you don’t have expertise there are tons of ways to make money through mowing yards,k pulling weeds, cleaning out gutters, and more.

Similarly, if you love animals or children, why not offer temporary pet sitting or child watching services? Parents sometimes need a break from their kids and pets usually hate being cooped up inside. Give them a taste of freedom and treat yourself to a relaxing weekend afterwards.

7. Take Online Surveys

Online surveys are simple tasks designed to gather information from participants. They typically involve answering questions, filling out forms, uploading photos, clicking links, downloading files, entering data, signing paperwork, submitting feedback, etc. Many survey companies offer incentives for participation including coupons, discounts, sweepstakes entries, gift cards, PayPal deposits, Amazon purchases, iTunes downloads, restaurant vouchers, movie rentals, hotel stays, travel insurance, etc.

In exchange for your valuable input, you typically earn points that translate to compensation. Some survey providers pay upwards of $50-$100 per completed task. Depending on the company you choose, you may have to fill out applications, watch videos, read terms & conditions, complete registration processes, etc.

Before agreeing to join a particular survey site, carefully research the company and review terms & conditions thoroughly.

8. Write Articles For Websites

There are many websites that hire out their writing to people on Fiverr, Upwork, and other places. Just create an account, set up a gig and what you feel is a good price and you are ready to start making money.

If you are in the USA and have a decent grammar and writing style you should be able to easily write an article and make $20-$30. Even if the article takes you an hour or two to write you can do it on your own time and the pay isn’t too bad.

9. Start an Etsy Store

Etsy is a global marketplace connecting independent sellers with consumers globally. On average, sellers list two pieces of merchandise for sale each week. As long as you meet certain criteria, Etsy offers seller financing, marketing assistance, shipping methods, product reviews, search engine optimization support, social networking integration, and lots more benefits aimed at helping entrepreneurs succeed.

And unlike traditional brick-and-mortar shops, you retain full ownership and control of your store.
